Landed in the Wild West

(of Australia!)
After a hectic few months we have finally settled in a temporary house, by the beach, south of Perth, Western Australia.
There will be plenty of things to see and do (although we have lived here before) but at the moment we are enjoying catching up with friends and relaxing (after unpacking a crate of furniture over the Easter weekend).
This was our last day on the Gold Coast in Surfers at QT hotel (which is has a good vibe, I like the interior.)

J was very excited about the train trip from Mandurah to Perth.

 Streets in the city.
 The Museum.
 Mandurah.

An English style miniature village near Mandurah.
 The Great Maze Race!
Our new kitchen for the next 6 months, which the cook is quite pleased with.

Today was a big birthday for Dad (40!). We made cards and a little movie for a present. Time for a boogie board and fishing too.

We had some friends stay over for the weekend and had cake of course...

This was a new recipe I tried and basically is a moist orange and almond cake (from the Womans Weekly Cook book) with a middle filling of cherries, jam and vanilla cream (very delish).
I need to plan another birthday cake because we are having another 40th dinner party this week with dear friends, hmmmmmm.
Till then.
